You’re Never Going To Be Ready. Do It Anyways!
We often think we need to be Ready to face new challenges that lie ahead of us. But in reality we can never be truly and fully Ready. We can prepare ourselves and move forward to do what we’re called to do. But we’re never Ready.
This can be for anything. Being ready isn’t just for a calling on your life or some big vision that you have. There are many other things that we think we need to be ready for before we can begin.
Like…
Making our marriage better
Helping our children at school
Being a better parent
Being a better child
Working things out with a friend
Forgiving someone that did you wrong
Moving on to the next step in your life
Getting married
Having children
Going to college
Starting a business
Do you ever feel that you need be perfect before you can really take the next step?
I think this is where many of us fail. And, don’t get me wrong, its quite okay to fail. That’s how we learn and grow. However, if we constantly wait to be ready, we will never take that leap, never get going and never accomplish what we need to. We will never mend relationships. We will never forgive others. We will never move forward.
We will stand still.
Somewhere in life we learned that the only way to advance is to be ready. Meaning, if we don’t get ready, then we won’t advance.
Ready has a few different meanings. At first glance, to be ready means, “The primary sense is to go, move, or advance forward,” this is a quick action, meaning that we are able to go ahead with the task at hand, to move quickly.
On the other hand, we get stuck on this part of the definition of ready: Prepared; fitted; furnished with what is necessary, or disposed in a manner suited to the purpose,” We feel that we must be completely prepared, fitted and furnished with everything necessary before we can take one step further.
Instead of going by definition #2, let’s follow #1. Quit waiting for the perfect moment. For full preparation. Or until you feel like it. Just do it!
Time is not stopping anytime soon. The longer you wait to be ready, the longer you will hold yourself out on having a happy life.
Make a decision and Do!
Do Forgive
Do Love
Do Help
Do Serve
Do Mend
Do Listen
Do Talk
Do Change
Do Start
You don’t need to be Ready (definition #2) for any of these steps. Don’t let getting Ready, fully prepared, fitted and furnished, hold you back from a great life.
You’re never going to be Ready.
Do whatever you need to do anyways!
